Business meeting and elections will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2023, at the CE site. Lunch is included for those registered for the course. Please RSVP if you are not registered (you may register online for this without paying). Please send agenda items to the office or President Emily Herndon by Jan. 6, 2023. Final agenda will be posted in the members only section at www.aptamt.com by Jan. 17, 2023.

Cancellation Policy

APTA MT reserves the right to refuse/cancel an event registration. If ATPA MT refuses a registration, registrants will be offered a full refund.

Registration Cancellation by Participant:

Cancellations will be accepted in writing via email or mail. A $25.00 administration fee will be withheld when cancellation occurs up to ten days prior to the start of the event; 50% refund if cancelled 2-10 days prior; 25% refund if cancelled 0-1 day prior.

Discounts:

Group Discounts:

10% Discount for 3 or more APTA Member PTs/PTAs from one clinic. Fees for all persons must be made with one payment. No exceptions. Credit will not be provided at a later date. Combining discounts (ie Lifetime AND Group) is not applicable. If you need to take advantage of this, call us for a group code to pay online, or mail in your check with participant names.

Student Discounts:

Students may take any non-limited seating, APTA MT sponsored CE at a rate discounted by 75% of the member and non-member rate; If the course is a lab, students will be admitted on a space available basis only. Group Code: APTAStudent (your registration will be cancelled if you are not a student using this code).

Lifetime Member:

Lifetime members may take any non-limited seating, APTA MT sponsored CE at 50% discount. Combining discounts (ie Lifetime AND Group) is not applicable. About the course:

Course Description:

This course will focus on the utilization of peripheral joint mobilization techniques.  It is designed for the physical therapist assistant (PTA) interested in expanding their manual therapy knowledge and skill level. Recent research on manual therapy, as well as legal and ethical issues regarding PTAs performing manual therapy will also be discussed. Lecture, laboratory practice, and case studies will be utilized to meet course objectives.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify indications, contraindications, and precautions for peripheral joint mobilizations    
  • Demonstrate safe performance of a variety of peripheral joint mobilizations    
  • Recognize legal and ethical considerations regarding PTAs and manual therapy    
  • Apply current research on manual therapy to the clinical environment

About the Speaker

Justin Berry, PT, DPT, PhD

Dr. Berry received his DPT and PhD from the University of North Dakota and has been a PTA Program Director in Minnesota since 2006.  He has taught PTA-specific continuing education courses since 2005 on a variety of orthopedic topics. Dr. Berry was awarded the 2014 F.A. Davis Outstanding PTA Educator, the 2016 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Educator of the Year, and the 2020 Academy of Physical Therapy Education’s President Award.
